FSEM 006 - Oprah's Book Club
Sandra Jamieson - (TTh 9:00-10:15A, Sitterly Seminar Room)
Course Summary
Welcome to the Oprah's Book Club Seminar. In this class we will explore the phenomena of book clubs and of recreational reading in general and create a book club for Drew. In addition to an online syllabus, this class will include an electronic portfolio (ePortfolio) and a wiki. You will learn how to make these things as part of the class, and use them as follows:
Check assignments, course calendar, and teacher office hours here.
this is where you will present your best work and a reflection on that work. You will begin with your common reading essay and your work for the seminar, but I invite you to keep the portfolio for your whole time at Drew and use it to plan and assess your educational journey. It will be public, although you will be able to determine how public (just the Drew community, Drew and selected guests, or everyone);
The wiki (the Drew Book Club Wiki):
this is where you and other students will collaboratively provide information and questions for bookclub members. You will also create a statement of purpose (mission), guidelines for posting, and suggestions for a variety of different book clubs. The goal is to create a resource for the entire Drew community and beyond.
