Description
Gossip girl is a series written by Cecily von Ziegesar for teenagers. It follows the lives of teenagers that live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York. These are not your normal teenagers. Money is never an issue for most of them. Although they are extremely wealthy, they still face the problems that many teenagers face. They deal with sex, drugs, betrayal, and problems with friendships. Between all of this tumult, there is never a dull moment. Whether you're a part of the in crowd, or dying to be, the drama and gossip continues to build. People make decisions that are selfish, and sometimes are at the expense of a best friend.
Author Background
Cecily Von Ziegesar’s earlier life was similar to the characters in Gossip Girl. She was born in 1970 to a wealthy family who lived on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York. She went to a private all girls school called The Nightingale-Bamford School and attended Colby College. She then went to the University of Arizona where she studied creative writing. She began working with a book packaging firm and meanwhile began writing the Gossip Girl series. She met her husband in New York who was on vacation from England. They married in 1998 and live together in New York City. Cecily had a daughter in 2002 named Agnes. She also has a son. Cecily, her husband and two children live in Brooklyn currently and have a cat named Pony Boy.
