Statement of purpose

The short stack bookclub invites busy people to read short pieces that have sufficient depth to provoke discussion, but do not entail a huge time commitment. We want to get America reading--and talking about books--again, and we hope this will help!

This book deals with family, friends,enemies, love ,sex, romance,life challenges and lessons, and themes that effect people and society.

Canfield,Jack ; Hansen, Mark Victor ; Nichols,Lisa ; Joyer,Tom / Chicken Soup for the African American Soul

    

"Chicken Soul for the African American Soul" is a collection of short stories that expressing topics such as morals, values and life lessons, which celebrate and share  the African American culture one story  at a time.

Greenfield,Eloise / Honey,I Love

    

"Honey,I Love is a collection of sixteen peoms that tell of love and the simple joys of everyday life, seen through the eyes of a child.

Pilkington,Doris / Rabbit Proof Fence

    

"Rabbit Proof Fence" is a story about one of the greatest escapes of all time by three chirldren who are determined to get back to the home they were pried from.

Giff,Patrica Reily / Pictures of Hollis Woods

    

"Picture of hollis woods" tells the story of a little girl who was abandoned as a baby and has been bounced in and out of foster homes.  After finally finding Josie, sercumstances may prevent her from finally having a place to call home.

"The Stories Julian Tells" is a wonderful collection of short stories for bedtime fun for any child.

 

Joyce, James/Dubliners

A collection of short stories by James Joyce set in Ireland explores the plight of the common man at start of the 1900s.
